Call for Committee Volunteers!
Many hands make light work – more hands create more events! Comunn Gàidhlig Thoronto is looking for Events Committee members!
About the Committee: The Events Committee works together to do forward planning and execution of events to promote Gaelic language, culture and community under the leadership of the Events Coordinator, with input from the Membership and direction from the Gaelic Society Executive. Committee members will participate in various aspects of planning and managing events, providing input, suggestions and feedback as needed.
Opportunity: Events planning and management provides opportunity to engage in interesting connections with others in the Gaelic community both here at home and around the world. Committee involvement provides opportunity for skills development or exercising those skills you already have! Most of all, it allows members the opportunity to contribute to promoting and sustaining Gaelic language, culture, heritage and community – a very satisfying endeavour.
About the Events team: Volunteers will work co-operatively within a team while also having opportunity to work individually on specific delegated activities or initiatives. Diversity within a team is an asset and everyone’s contributions are the strength of the team. The understanding of getting it right rather than being right is important along with respect for each person’s unique abilities, contributions and voice.
Useful skills: Gaelic language abilities are a definite asset but not required. Comfort with computer technologies such as Zoom, Word, Excel and email are helpful but not required by all committee members. Understanding and support for the nature of and challenges within the Gaelic culture/community is essential. Other skills such as Project management/engagement experience, graphic or creative design capabilities and writing skills are assets but not required. “Training on the job” provided!
Requirements: Events Committee meetings monthly online (Zoom – phone-in acceptable), possibly more for specific events; participation and presence at events as needed and decided within planning sessions;. possible email monitoring, and response and communications as required; events execution duties distributed amongst Events team members.

We look forward to hearing from you!
